Soybean Gall Midge
The Soybean Gall Midge (Resseliella maxima) is a relatively new and highly destructive insect pest that has caused localized yield losses of up to $100\%$ in the Western Corn Belt. Because the larvae feed internally within the soybean stem, traditional over-the-top insecticide applications are often ineffective once the infestation is established. This video from Ag PhD explores the biology of this pest and current mitigation strategies.
